Early in 1996, the Presidents and Chancellors of Illinois public universities requested support from the Illinois Board of Higher Education for an Interinstitutional Faculty Summer Institute on Learning Technologies. The idea was to accomplish together what would be less efficient and effective for each campus to do alone.  This year, the IBHE continues its generous funding of the Faculty Summer Institute. Faculty members from across Illinois have come together on the Urbana campus to collaborate on the integration of networked information technologies into the curriculum.  Each campus has sent a team of faculty members and instructional support personnel to the Institute.  The goals of the Institute are: 1.  To introduce faculty to the use of learning technologies such as the World Wide Web and asynchronous conferencing   2.  To create a network for sharing in the development of the curriculum and use of learning technologies   The Institute is sponsored by: Illinois Board of Higher Education Center for Educational Technologies Chicago State University Eastern Illinois University Governors State University Illinois State University Northeastern Illinois University Northern Illinois University Office of Continuing Education The Regional Center for Distance Learning and Multimedia Development Sloan Center for Asynchronous Learning Environments Southern Illinois University at Carbondale Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville University of Illinois at Chicago University of Illinois at Springfield University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign University Outreach and Public Service Western Illinois University
